Over a decade ago, Stumptown became Montes de Oro’s first customer. This year’s lot shines through with notes of apple cider and honey, and offers a soft, balanced body.
This is a true family farming operation; coffee cultivation for the Gamboa family dates back to the 1800s. Family patriarch, Tutto Gamboa, has been in the coffee business since he was 15. He has recently passed on the day to day management of operations to his son and daughter-in-law, Emilio and Laura. Together, they manage all aspects of coffee production at their micro-mill, Montes De Oro. Stumptown has been working with the Gamboa Family since 2006.
Located in the central part of the Costa Rica, the Province of San Jose is mountainous, lush, and green. At 1560 - 2000 meters above sea level, some of the Gamboa’s plantings are among the highest coffee farms in the country.
