Summary

The Buyer/Planner supports the business by executing the planning and purchasing of materials, services and supplies for Cold Brew products and works with vendors, tracks information, gathers and analyzes data, and generates reports for management review. The Buyer/Planner works with demand forecasting to determine appropriate inventory strategies for all managed items and uses knowledge of supplier lead times and performance to issue POs on a timely basis to ensure availability. The Buyer/Planner also expedites on an as needed basis deliveries of products to meet anticipated or unanticipated demand with equal enthusiasm.

Essential Functions

  • Develops item inventory strategy based on business criticality, forecast accuracy, required service level (availability), lead times MOQs and EOQs

  • Ensures the appropriate inventory is ordered on time and is of the appropriate volume. The buying function may also include expediting or de-expediting material as needed

  • Plan future requirements of materials based on forecasts

  • Administer Purchase Order (PO) process

  • Contact suppliers, and places orders with vendors providing best total value

  • Complete purchase orders and submit to suppliers in response to service and/or product requirements

  • Maintain relationships with suppliers

  • Manages Transfer Order (TO) process with internal and third party warehouses.

  • Track and resolve PO’s past due dates. Administer Open Order Report, acting as liaison between suppliers and internal customers

  • Prepare and maintain on-going management reports

  • Resolve procurement issues with multiple departments including AP, accounting inventory, etc.

  • Manage day to day performance issues of suppliers to ensure best service to internal and external customers. Manage short term corrective action process and escalate to strategic sourcing as appropriate

Supervisory responsibilities

  • None

Qualifications:

  • BA in business or related field

  • 2 - 5 years relevant experience (sourcing, procurement, planning)

  • Ability to develop, plan, organize and manage multiple priorities

  • Strong desire for continuous process improvement

  • Working knowledge/familiarity with supply chain/planning software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA in Operations/Supply Chain Management or related field

  • 5+ years experience in a Buyer or Planning role

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit continuously at a computer
