Summary

The HR Business Partner is responsible for planning, managing and administering the day-to- day operations of the assigned business units. The position will carry out responsibilities in the following areas; benefits, safety and workers compensation, recruiting, retention and on-boarding, performance management, leave administration, employee relations and supporting the VP, Human Resources with policy and compliance.

Essential Functions

  • Administer comprehensive medical, dental, vision plans to employee base to include; providing employee customer service, training and support for all benefit programs. Coordinate open enrollment to include; the project plan, establishing timeframes for the open enrollment process, communications related to open enrollment, and auditing open enrollment elections to ensure adherence to benefit guidelines

  • Oversee the workers compensation insurance in all states to include annual reporting and OSHA log

  • Manage all employee leaves to include, personal, FMLA, state specific leaves and ADA

  • Advises and assists managers in effectively managing key people processes such as goal setting, performance management, career pathing and succession planning, compensation, etc.

  • Administer recruiting, on-boarding and exit procedures to include offer and exit packets. Work with IT and Payroll to ensure the new employee experience is a positive one

  • Serves as a resource for managers and employees in the resolution of employment-related issues.

  • Diagnoses organizational issues, provides strategic HR advice and innovates solutions that significantly improve organizational effectiveness.

  • Collaborates and facilitates the design and implementation of company-wide HR business processes, programs and initiatives.

  • Identifies training/development opportunities that increase organizational competence and alignment with the culture and the company’s core values.

  • Serves as the “go-to” face of HR to employees and managers within assigned group(s).

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree with at least five years of progressive HR experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Requires demonstrated HR generalist background with planning, development, implementation, facilitation and review of a variety of HR initiatives to deliver solutions

  • Must have ability to understand and develop effective HR strategies while understanding the implications from a culture, business success, company practice and legal standpoint.

  • Ability to be proactive, navigate and drive a variety of short and long term strategies and tactics with varying priorities.  The ability to translate business plans and goals into human resource capabilities is needed to achieve results. 

  • Possesses strategic thinking and planning/facilitation ability, and flexibility to function in a grass-roots environment.

  • The ability to provide leadership, work collaboratively, and consult effectively and independently with all levels of the organization.

  • Strong ability to multi-task, take initiative, negotiate, and influence thinking. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationship with all internal contacts/coworkers.

  • Demonstrated competency in the fundamentals of Human Resources including benefits, compensation, and compliance.

  • Proven skill in the operation and utilization software such as MS Office products i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. and Google platforms

Preferred

  • PHR, SPHR, GPHR certification preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit continuously at a computer

  • Carry weight, lift – lift up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally

  • May need to travel to other locations occasionally.

  • Work takes place in an office environment
