The Demand Planner will direct and manage production planning activities for the Queens roasting and packaging facilities. In a complicated route-to-market and critical freshness standard, the Demand Planner will ensure the right coffee is in the right place at the right time. This role will work with the roasting, production, and supply chain teams to create a realistic and efficient production plan, while optimizing inventory and maximizing the workforce.

Essential Functions

The Demand Planner will be responsible for:

-Plan and prepare production schedules for Queens roasting and packaging to ensure efficient flow of work and minimal waste

-Run daily numbers and queue up Roasted Work Orders in NetSuite

-Work closely with Production Systems Lead to ensure inventory accuracy of finished goods

-Train Production System Leads to ensure seamless planning coverage

-Manage capacity planning requirements for the roasting/manufacturing network, with consideration to business supply needs, pipeline builds, and seasonal changes

-Define and utilize best practices to ensure accurate and efficient production of goods

-Develop and implement production planning policies, procedures, tools, and technology

-Ensure seamless flow of information and fully integrated approach to delivering key metrics regarding Customer Service, Inventory, and Cost

-Manage inventory accuracy of finished goods for accurate planning

-Set clear performance standards to hold people accountable for results, deliver customer service goals, optimize inventory investments, and meet production requirements, safety stock targets, and quality improvement goals

-Build cross-functional and cross-departmental support across Operations functions, fostering overall team effectiveness 

-Develop and manage projects to deliver continuous improvement in KPI’s 


-Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

-A minimum of three (3) years in manufacturing, on-site food and beverage production experience is a plus.

-Familiarity with Supply Chain acumen and a broad understanding of fundamental business principles.

-Experience with ERP (such as NetSuite) & Advanced Planning Systems (such as SAP-APO) is required.

-Advanced in MS Excel including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and Data Tables

Familiarity with relevant legislation – e.g. FDA, GMP, and ISO preferred 

-Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and influence a variety of audiences, up, down and across.

-Ability to work a variety of shifts and hours as needed, including occasional weekends, evenings and early mornings.

Supervisory responsibilities

This role is not supervisory in nature but will work closely with Production & Roasting team members, the Production Planning Manager and up to 2 Production Systems Leads.

Work Environment

Work will include in both an office and warehouse/ dock environment. Temperatures will fluctuate based on weather.
