This is the first year and the first coffee Stumptown has purchased from the Sumava de Lourdes Micromill. Stumptown learned about this unique, beautiful lot through Francisco Mena of Exclusive Coffees. Francisco is the producer and managing partner of Sumava La Ladera, as well as the founder of Exclusive Coffees, one of our long standing exporters.
Located in Costa Rica’s West Valley in the area of Naranjo de Lourdes, La Ladera is a plot within Sumava’s farm Monte Llano Bonito. At 1670 Meters, La Ladera is among the biggest plots within the farm; the lot that Stumptown purchased is a single varietal, SL-28.
Sumava La Ladera is part of Exclusive Coffees’ 50lb Elite Coffee Project, which celebrates some of the most exceptional, unique coffees Costa Rica offers. For a coffee to be considered, a team of 3 Q Graders award it a score of at least 88 points. It must also be fully traceable, so the buyer knows the coffee’s varietal, location, harvest date, and processing information. This project ensures the coffees being offered are treated with the appreciation they deserve.
