The Story

Semillero sits at the base of Volcán de Fuego, an active volcano you can often hear—and feel—rumbling nearby. The rich soil produces some of the finest coffees in the Zelaya family operation, but it wasn’t always that way.

Semillero was the first plot of land Luis Pedro Zelaya bought after graduating as an agronomist. Initially intended to be a seedling farm, but after some experiments, the land began to produce one exquisite coffee after another. Today, Semillero produces some of the highest-quality lots seen in the operation, and this year’s lot is no exception.
